Retaliation

Norgal sat at his hand carved desk writing in the 68th book of remembrance and doing his best to recall his activities of the last year. He new he should write a little everyday and not have to rely on his memory but he just couldn’t remember to write each day and the days just kept slipping by. Besides the reed pen he used, although the best pen in existence, wore out with to much use and you just can’t spend money haphazardly. He leaned forward and dipped his pen in the ink well and prepared himself to write again. The pen dropped from his grasp as he leaned back searching his memory for history that had past in time and memory.

A small squeak brought his eyes open in a start and there before him, tracking small little footprints on his precious paper, was Visy a pretentious, overbearing, obnoxious, nasty little fellow with huge eyes and a long tail. Visy sat back on his haunches with his front paws hanging in front of him and stared at Norgal. Just seeing Visy raised Norgal’s temperature to the point of boiling and the trail of small little specks behind him across Norgal’s beloved paper incensed him. As Norgal leaned forward, arm outstretched, Visy’s small hand leaped up and scratched his large left ear and his squeak broke the silence.

“Hi ya, haven’t seen ya for quite a while and thought I would bring ya up to date on the goings on around here…..”

“Forget it” yelled Norgal as his hand descended on the desk within an inch of Visy’s tail. “I don’t like you. I don’t want to see you and your leavings. Go away and leave me alone. You little…..”

“Ah, come on you know ya like me, ya big furry bag of jelly, and think of all the juicy little tidbits I’ve got that ya can use to enhance your position.” Visy leaned forward, glanced left and right, “and when you get in that romantic position ya can use some of it to close the deal.” He giggled a little, danced with both feet, reached up and rubbed both ears, smoothed his whiskers and left a small deposit behind himself.

Norgal jumped up made a swipe at the place Visy had occupied and screamed. “What I would give to have a snark here right now!”

And from Norgal’s shoulder came that irritating squeak “speaking of snark ya should hear what Caush did…………….”
